life forms awakening.   The Garden awakens to a garden of its Own.    in the last two days.    What sets this into motion?   What changes allow this,  not…allow,  but OPEN to it?.    Lichen.  Fungus.   Such incredible forms that have LifeStories.   How can i learn how to listen to these?   HOW?    Repeat…what? sets this into motion?   is it the slant of light?….Sun……is it the shortening of the day?  What other things ARE there that i am not at all aware of?,  that tenderly push the emergence?,  the burst of Being

love that your images sent me off on a research mission
I’ve always been fascinated by wildflowers that “take turns” … each occupying the same bit of ground in successive waves of time, then banking their seeds which later emerge when their preferred conditions occur
on the other hand, lichens, which are partly fungal, take over their spot and “stick to it” for the long haul … map lichens on Arctic rocks were estimated to be 8600 years old (as cited in a National Park Service article) … multiple lichen forms even survived exposure to outer space over a period of ten days (as cited in the journal Icarus in 2010)

If you have lichens you have good air quality and sun and moisture. I emailed you a link. Because you spoke your thoughts my own were reawakened and I took the time to explore info on lichens. Now I need to get my needle and threads out and stitch from pictures I took on rocks in AZ and in Canada.. it is a good day! Here in MN this week my daughters neighbor’s yard has many mushrooms with TALL caps.. very phallic!

Here I think it is the rain. The autumn crocus always comes up after a few rain showers.

Welcome to Santa Fe Tina: you and your friends will indeed have some wonderful discoveries. Museums, fascinating history and cultures, sights and most especailly, FOOD! hisotry and FOOD!
To see the glory of our fall, check out the Santa Fe National Forest Scenic Byway.” This drive is 16 miles each way and it’s extremely popular in fall because of the incredible views of the aspens. The twisting drive up Hyde Park Road (also called NM-475) culminates at the Santa Fe Ski Basin.:
I’m sure you have a list of places to see but I would like to recommend two of my favorite restaurants, they are sister restaurants, La Choza and The Shed. Both have historical significance:

I was amazed to see how the local cat’s claw bushes went from looking dead to suddenly bursting into green once it rained steadily. Now I see plants with seed heads suddenly ripening and opening.
