“A promise, easy to keep” had me thinking that while I do not make new year resolutions, I do remind myself, at the beginning of each new year, to continue to find the daily joys that fuel my life:
At this time of the year, the blog world is usually filled with affirmations and intentions, the “word” of the year, how to go forward into the new year, etc. – I was curious to see if this held during these pandemic years so i went seeking. Some of this still holds true but there is also such a weariness after these past three years and then I found these two quotes by Elizabeth Gilbert on a blog that was a sidebar to another blog. I’m not going to link it here since I found this by accident, neither blog is one that I read on a regular basis but I will share the Gilbert quotes because they hold:
    Gilbert says, “Complaining scares inspiration.”
AND my favorite, because even in these times of upheaval, life goes on however it can. Gilbert joyfully writes:”Be the weirdo who dares to enjoy.”
In each day, it is possible to find what I call the quiet joys and not be ashamed to admit that you find them.Therefor in honor of being a weirdo, I opened my front door a few minutes ago, it is about 5:30 am here in New Mexico, temps warmer, about 30, did a little dance on the lawn by the apple tree and when I twirled around, the upstairs neighbor was coming down the stairs to take trash to the containers outside, today is trash day…He looked at me not sure what to say, so I twirled again, smiled and said, Happy New Year! then danced my way back to my front door. I could hear him chuckling as we walked by so my work as a “weirdo” for today is done!

the Inktense pencils are definitely living up to their name … your calendar entries are going to be like a field of flowers beneath the butterflies

I’ve been working with them too, but on paper I am not sure I don’t like paints better. cloth tho, interesting. of course I have some so I will at least use them up. I am not good with promises, but over time they seem to come to pass.

I love this dance story! It doesn’t seem particularly weird to me, but then I was once known as “Old Weird Faith.” I have always embraced the weirdness.

You may have inspired me, Grace. I don’t have Inktense, but I do have Micron pens and watercolor pencils. They are currently on my “art desk” that is currently piled with “stuff.” I think I’m going to put them in a cup or jar on my kitchen table where I can doodle on all the junk mail that collects there.
