when getting the tall enamel pot yesterday,  i glanced at the two plates in the dried grasses.   Why? were they sitting there?  but that's as far as it went.   This eve as i gave water to the farthest of the new Faux raised bed,  something….very small,  like maybe pea sized ,   smaller

….Hopped….away.  two hops and disappeared into the grass and pine needles.   All i can imagine it might be is a  Toad?   What else hops?    but i haven't seen  Toad this season around…and tree frog?    i don't think so…too dry and i don't hear them…so, ???   The plates are good.  shallow.   but could quench thirst,  could cool a body.   The forecast being over one hundred degrees for the next 7 days…Tuesday,  108.

I wish you relief with cold compresses and feet soaking in cool water tubs. My mind would be a puddle. Communication goes way beyond language as we know it. Such a complex world.
Today was hot, not sure of the exact temps, but was riding most of the day in my sister’s car with no air conditioning. Windows down, body sweating on plastic seats. My legs and ankles swollen. I dont know.. we get so softened from luxuries.

we have a toad who lives in the container garden on our back porch … he moves from one plant to another, leaving little concavities as evidence … his name is Herb of course
and I guess I take minor exception to the Sheldrake quote given that our empathy enables us to imagine what we might do to come to the aid of a non-human creature (is that humanizing?)

I read some time ago that when you have a plate and you put rocks on it that it helps the bees be able to drink water .. have a few plates with shells in them and although we are blessed not to have your heat I do see bees come and go. Be careful not to overdo in all the high temperatures you will be living with. Maybe close your eyes and Envision the cold winter days of your youth living in Michigan snowflakes gently covering you with all it coolness.

I like that quote. We DO need to humanize society more . . . a lot more than we have. But the rest of the world we need to learn to accept as is, and restore . . . ie. take care of.
I’m sure the tiny creatures appreciate the water
