in contrast to the image of yesterday…here is Beauty on the Hill.   in my    life.    The Doe Goat Rain Shelter.   I raked and pitch forked all the compressed rice straw we use for bedding.   They only go in here when it rains.   But that means,  for the months of sometimes November through March.  December and January almost every day.    Even when the earth is very wet,  they sleep Out.  Only when water is falling from the Sky.    I should have taken a pic….there's a pile of old straw, with urine and shit  that i will take to B Garden little by little on the sled.    You can see tho,   there's a zillion  of the little poops still.   They are completely  dry and like petrified.   There is no smell.  Goat shit is Lovely.   Neat and useful.   When mixed with soil and/or compost,  decomposes to total nutrient.    That's the mended chair.   The top mend on the left arm isn't stitched down.  Came later.  and you can see on the back of  the seat,  a hole?   My thumb went through once when moving it.   I think the seat is also rotting.  I think it's not long for this world.  But today,  Perfect.   Rake     Rest.   Rake    Rest.   totally satisfying .

and before and then after….this.    I looked at it for #10,  it's a piece of a blouse.  that i love.  and i had the urge,  tried to resist but didn't and continued with it on down #11.   There are 3 button holes.   i like them there.  Eyes.   What If?,  i'm thinking…what if i am able to get some walnut dye that works well.   It can be  similar to the patterns on this blouse…..?    i like this.     in contrast to the center.  i do harbor a secret hope to make myself a cloth blanket after the 2 are finished.   I'd use the Walnut cloth.  a lot.

For me it works because the patterns are different on each piece, so not really matching. 🙂 And especially because it is more neutral. I like how there is color in the center and then softer on the outside.

somehow I think this would make a nice center block for a nine patch. a nine patch cabin, shall I try?
for a moment I thought you were building a house, ha!

    we should try Everything
if They would let us, we could have built 5 houses, all
sturdy and dry and good. Jenhy’s Goat Sheds are all so very
    great.

It looks like a house behind the goat shelter. Is that your “tin house?”
Is it the fire conditions that prevent them from allowing you to build? If so, how is it any different from anywhere else in fire ridden CA? Seems like a good evacuation plan, which y’all seem to have, is much more important.
I really like those buttonholes there, too.

You give me inspiration that I could do such a thing as this, but still the energy is not there, nor the focus. This is beautiful Grace, because of the heart it holds, as well as the actual look of it. xo

yes. it’s the tin house, the back side of it. I’d take a pic of it but there’s so much little stuff i’d want to remove, mostly under it, like the jacks that are non
functional, the big almost empty jug of blowing bubbles, the old baby items, junk. under it. but visible. it’s vanity. i should get over it.
fire but just building codes. you have them where you live, everyone does.
Butte County California is particularly sensitive since the
Campfire in Paradise, only a few miles from here 85 people killed,
50,000 people displaced, 14,000 homes destroyed.
    153,336 acres burned.
it’s all very complex and convoluted. Some of it makes sense. Some of it makes MONEY…taxes.
what i was saying is…we could. CAN. Build a perfectly habitable structure. Take the risk. if there is fire, then our loss. we could sign some kind of waiver or something to that effect. We also would willingly pay taxes (MONEY) that would satisfy the “need”…as if we had a more orthodox structure. We would do that. But that’s all too straight forward and isn’t going to happen. I’ve let go thinking about it pretty much. Live with how it is. I am OK.
I like the buttonholes very much too.

I love how you name/number the strips … consider them and their place in the whirl

Your goat shelter looks fantastic. We don’t have goats but we could really use a storage space like that. Jenny sounds like a talented builder. And – just a thought – I was in a big hurry for a blanket to use over the couch. I used a few nine-patches, but it’s mostly “yardage” – strips of material as wide as the patches, but quite long. It made up really fast and I could add nine-patches as available and desired (one is already wearing out). If you want to make three blankets, this might help. Your patch looks like a spiral log-cabin rainbow.
