as Sun was setting….they came closer and closer.    and settled.   Turkey Vultures.  19 at least.  just next  to the Curry House.   2 evenings in a row.   Every day they are   "up there"  in the near distance,  circling.   But not   Here,   roosting.    so i read that they have begun the migration from these summer breeding grounds  to winter in South  and Central America.  They will  rise when  Sun warms their wings in the morning,  catch a thermal  and circle.  Slowly loosing altitude  to catch another and the process of circling and rising repeats.  In this way they commonly travel 200 miles a day,  up to 60 mph without ever flapping their wings.

they're Big.   avg. 2  1/2 ft with a 6ft wingspan.

this Earth.    What   Amazements have evolved.   They are not  "pretty" birds.   i wonder what a nest of little ones might look like.    How the mother would i guess feed them carrion.

I like using the backside of fabric. It changes things- almost fades……..

I’m loving all the questions you raise about the size of the log cabin blocks. I started working on a log cabin block last week and have decided to make one large one even if they are patched together along the way.

We have vultures year round here in Georgia. Dead things along the highway don’t last long.
Lazy Log Cabin is my go-to quilt top when I limber up the sewing machine. I have baskets of long strips and half-starts in the closet. Some nearly finished. Time to dig some out.

I love your log cabin colors. It is one of my favorite blocks and quilts.
I hope E is happy at school, and that Ms. J is adjusting to the new types of students. I send them my mightiest well wishes.

We have a spot like that with the turkey vultures, over by the hospital…always circling 🙂
It is amazing to me how you’ve really taken to these blocks! They’re wonderful!

she is Happy. it’s as if she was “made for” school. She loves it all. the easy and the complicated. she loves all the kids, is interested in the mean ones.
when she comes with Alyssia to bring ice, she water colors.
Today she demonstrated for me the right way to use the paint brush. so i’d know.
Ms. J has her mojo back and all seems well. Isaih has gone off to another classroom.
it was Class Pictures week and i see that there are only i think 6 girls out of a class of 21. eeeee. Martin continues causing trouble and receiving trouble. He is one of her good friends. She now has a best friend.
Life is very different. She has her own world. She claims it.
