20221007_162557  the 80's.   Probably will stay that way for a while.   nights  lo  60's,   59.   Could stay that way on through October.

Garden is energized.   Many blossoms on tomato plants,  squash and bell pepper.   the Most yet.   They may have time.  ???

All these i planted around March because i've always been "late",  so this time i wasn't.   Everything was seeming to go well.  And then got slow.  and  then the Heat.      Green Beans began all fine but then leaves took on a "bronze y quality"  and the vines became spindly and  though blossoms would form,  none came to fruition except for 2.   One bean last month.  One a week ago.   Miniature beans.  perfect in appearance.  crisp and delicious.  but,  miniature.    i should've put the pic of the last one.   I kind of quit looking.   But today….,     These.    4.  FOUR.   4 Beans!!!!!   and what this says to me is……if i can grow these 4 beans,  i can,  like  CAN   grow MANY.   Right?     And,   what if summer is like this next time around…..that HEAT in August and September…then,  what if i plant the beans in maybe July…?…..or late June  and they might now be at their height?   Or…?   All these thoughts.   I smile at Self.   I AM NOT a good gardener.   just AVID.    so i make notes and take heart that Who Knows?

Buhner signs off the book

In veriditas  veritas     The Gila Wilnerness,   March 2022

i go google veriditas    and Hildegard Von Bingen is there    sufi path of love   The Ecological Prophets   Hildegard of Bingen and …..then wants me to download,  but this is enough.  So i YouTube Hildegard   and listen to hortus deliciarum   while looking at images of dandelion       Hildegard Von Bingen,   Saint.   High Middle Ages.  Born 1098.  dies 1179.   Benedictine abbess and polymath.  active as a writer, composer, philosopher, mystic, visionary and as a medical writer and practitioner.  Considered by scholars to be the founder of scientific natural history.    Here i am.  California,  America,   2022   listening to Her.   Think of this. grace, i say.     and finish up the 9 strip.   it's Pink because Jenny likes pink.

Hildegard Von Bingen…haven’t thought of her for awhile. Read some of her works in college and had a roommate that liked some of the music she had composed. Time to revisit.
And the garden…yes, paying attention to timing is important. We had such a cool spring, it changed the timing of everything.

Making notes makes you a pretty good gardener. Better than me. I always intend to makes notes, but then forget to do it.
How cold is your winter? Maybe you could grow hardy vegetables in winter. I was surprised to see how many tolerate weather as cold as 25°. Kale, spinach, and mustard greens will grow all winter if it gets no colder than the teens. Not sure about the heavy rains. Some kind of rain tent over a raised bed may be enough.

Those beans are so beautiful ~ and the hands that hold them. Tomato, squash, and bell peppers coming on ~ whoopee! I would think at least the peppers and tomatoes will get ripe enough to at least put inside to finish ripening, and squash still growing, until it gets down to pretty cool, above frost temps perhaps. I agree with Faith – a bit of a rain tent or shelter might be a good idea. My neighbors put some heat/sun covers over some of their garden. Those can be made very inexpensively. I’ve kept notes on planting times here, but this gardening season got away from me, for several reasons, one being the weather (as Deb says), water “rationing” another. Circumstances in the household, well they are what they are. Your good notes and ideas about the timing of planting is smart and sensible. I’ve got a garden “hope” schedule and list started for spring. That ought to help me get through winter. The Butte Master Gardeners might have some good tips as well.
Buhner, Hildegard Von Bingen. Mind expanding for me the first few times I read (and pondered). Glad you’ve brought to my attention again.

That’s what I was thinking about the pink. Yet, why should it be anything at all? Would I think who knew? if she liked green or blue or…? Why should pink be surprising? haha

Those beans! Gorgeous! I’d gobble them up in an instant, as I love beans. In fact I just finished dinner with some green beans in my veggies 🙂 Delicious!

really. she’s not, not and also not i guess how i have
    “portrayed” here here, a
    pink type
but then…i thought/think what is a pink type? Who can i think of as a Pink Type?
and why do i have these thoughts about Pink?
Jenny is, sometimes, like the inside of a conch shell.
That ivory with that blush of pink
when she gets overheated by Work, her face becomes Pink
she has her paternal grandmother’s coloring in that way
i flashed on her, in the hospital, resting after giving birth to Alyssia…she was 16. in those moments, she was
    Pink
and she gets Pink sometimes about her grand children, all of them…sometimes Fiercely Pink
    WHAT IS PINK? Am i
    ever Pink?

i make the notes then lose them.
Winters…if “ordinary” do not freeze. There is no snow.
    the RAIN is
    an Entity. the Atmospheric Rivers.
raised beds are not happening now.

there are days on end with ZERO sun
it’s all a playing by ear…is that the expression?, it
sounds odd…off…is it …that we play by ……..
    what?
i am distracted. Some Thing is

I love this description of her pink…the color/shade of it…the timing of it. Now, I am wondering if I am ever pink?
