i am here in First Light with thoughts,  with those final pages of the book,  again  and again and

with cloth all over the Table and  small scraps that i pick up and hold and am in the Company of and i stitched these two together just to see how it felt

i will keep trying to say it.  over and over.   until i can find the words that Tell how it is…..how as i do this

quilt

i most love that each piece of cloth is here,  in its own unadorned way.   Just it.   no more,  no less.   and how i so love this,  to have them this way,   themSelves

and again,  i can't find a way to say this.   So…maybe another time.

AND

i want to say about the book….Earth Grief….          If  Things are weighing heavy on you already,    i would not necessarily start reading.   it is not ….   well….it's hard.   and when you get to the End,   it is just the beginning of the work,  this Earth Grief.

Quote for you: “Although they appear to be quite different, sadness and openness are in fact intimately connected. The profound sadness that overwhelms us when we understand the impermanent nature of all phenomena opens us up to the world around us.” (Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche) I got this in my email recently and I thought of you and your courage reading Earth Grief. I don’t feel ready, but maybe soon.

Sometimes too many little earthly sadnesses first. Then read the largest of griefs of all.

always. it is always so. the Buddhist teachings. as you bring here with this. always are so. they refer to Impermanent Nature…and i feel
    feel
impermanent nature of all phenomena as if it refers to the NOW, but in truth, it is ancient. It has always been so.
    and also, now.
Thank You for this, it brings me Around.

Thank you for saying this about the book. I want to read it but am afraid of being completely overcome with the grief I already feel. I started listening to the audiobook of The Secret Teachings of Plants. I’ll start there with him.

Beth….this was weighing on me….not wanting to
    recommend the reading, really….it’s Hard.
it’s also true. a Hard Truth that i very honestly don’t
    know how to hold
All of Us have our own sensitivites, our own present
    circumstances
i am sure, Sure, that We All care deeply. How to
carry that Caring is not the same for everyone.
    Love to you, dear You

…and sometimes carrying that caring is just as hard as the thing we are carrying.
