strange goings on here at typepad.   But.    Click to enlarge

Walnut Tree.   All  around,  those miles of grasslands.   I wonder what was there,  once upon a time.   and when it changed.  At first i thought it was most likely grazing land but  there's no fencing?    Was it ever farmed?    Why is there no other vegetation,  plants,  other than just the grasses.    no bushes.    But here stands  Walnut.   I remember passing,   that first year when we  evacuated to Gridley Fair Grounds,   driving through that expanse and seeing the lone tree in the distance and suddenly i knew it was Walnut…somehow you can tell,  before you can actually See.      A half mile or so on there is a cluster of them.  Then no more because the rice growing begins.

going down to 46 degrees tonight.   Puppy came in.

forgot to say.   i left apples.

Down to 34 here last night, 37 right now. All the cats took turns coming to visit last night. I love how you have captured the tree, with the lines of the road in the front. Things going…

Puppy can always come in. Tho i do NOT love cats inside.
How they walk on all surfaces. Tazmeena was the BEST,
she didn’t need to do that…was more human in that way…not needing or wanting to walk on a table.
She stayed in till about 1 am then meowed to go back out.
It’s how she does. Cry to come in. then Cry to go out.
    All through the next months.

Years ago – 1978? I worked for North Coast Ranch Supply in Calistoga, CA. There was a walnut growers co-op in the same warehouse, next door. I still remember how the walnuts would rattle down at harvest time. I wish I would have investigated further, because all I remember is the sound. Loud!

Beautiful photo, esp. when enlarged. I imagine a house in the hills farther back near the tree row…
