when you are.   looking for somthing and not knowing what you are looking for.

last night….that word     Moxie       Where did it come from?   Why?   as in,   What ….for.?

it's been forever since i've thought it.   But it made me smile,   it gave Energy,  just the thought of it.  So i did the Wikipedia thing…  typed in  Wiki Moxie   and:

"Etimology    First recorded use 1930  From an American soft drink made since 1885 to which advertisement ascribed many beneficial properties.   The word appears in very many places in Maine especially of falls or ponds and is perhaps ultimately from Abenaki  "dark water".

1.  Nerve  spunk  strength of character     2.    Verve      3.   wit   smarts   skills

usage notes     The meanings   can be grouped into "cures".   for the problem of feeling too weak in spirit body mind      in other words of being overwhelmed/helpless,   exhausted/listless   or confused/perplexed.

Words are endlessly fascinating. Moxie isn’t a word I use much and yet I would say one with power.
Yesterday I was learning about writing social stories for children, a story that is written with children (or for, but the conversation yesterday was about writing it with them) and shows children how to behave in a certain situation. I am thinking about how we do this as adults too…

Well, that’s an interesting reference! I should look that up. I’m aware of Moxie (the beverage) but I’ve never tried it. Mainers are also very fond of Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy.

Her face is just stunning to me and so reminded me of the first years here in New Mexico. our first summer here, there was an art festival in the village of Corrales, about 10 min from our previous home. The festival was held in the old San Ysidro church. Up in what was the altar, drawings and paintings crossed the wall and rounded into a little alcove and there was where I saw her and was stopped in my tracks… a sketch much like this one was before me and it was titled, Curandera and I could feel who she was. If there is such a thing as quiet Moxie, this drawing has it, and so do you…

I used to have Moxie. When I lived in the Bay Area, Portland, Seattle, I fit in.
I feel like you (one) has to be in an urban area to be accepted if you (one) have/has Moxie.
My mom said to me ~5 years ago: “You used to be so confident.” I wasn’t rude to people. I was strong. For myself. I wasn’t fearful of other people’s opinions.
    I used to have Moxie.
