is this Glorious or what?    i love the Post Office.   i love all Post Offices but this one….,   it's an Historic Site.   Built in the 30's.  i think about the architect and want to know more.  The sense of how the United States Postal Service was revered.   it feels like a cathedral.  This half,  there is a hall beyond the package boxes and then to the left,  the main room of all the old brass key boxes.  It is always very quiet here.  spotlessly clean.   it feels somehow    private.   People nod and smile.   talk is rare.    Through glass doors is the business counter,  the waiting line that passes through glass counters that hold stamps and other items.   Always at least two clerks,  often 3.   They are friendly,  always offering advice.   Other than the Hill,  it is the only other place i feel i belong.

yesterday morning,  before setting out for the above,   i  hit the skids.   There was NO internet.   I searched and somehow found a contact number for Verizon and the option of CALLING.  it was my intention to just ask if they were aware of this and if they thought it might be corrected.   OR at worst,  be told it was somehow  "me".   Wait time was 11 minutes and some nice slinky music repeated and repeated and i looked over at Tay's  Dancing Stick…thought of Marti….got up and in the 3  feet i have….danced.   I dance like Pee Wee Herman.   But it relieved the tension.  made me smile.  Suddenly,    a voice…this is …….i didn't catch it……how can i help you today and off it went.   i told why i was calling in blunt terms,  that i was just wanting to know,  that i am completely tech challenged,  don't even now the terms for anything,  on and on and she….a young Asian woman said well,  lets begin.  it went on for over a half hour.  many questions on her end….like,  OK,  just tell me what you see on your screen.   then   asking if i saw the three dots for instance,  me…no    her patiently asking another way  until i finally said…do you mean that little thing that looks like a house and 3 circles?   YES! she  happily exclaims.   2 or 3 times i tried to give up,  telling her i'd just wait for my granddaughter and each time she said well,  let's just try one more thing  .  during a lull  when we were waiting for something to happen on her end,  i said i use the phone for everything that i take pics with it,  like of my garden,  and she said  You have a Garden!  i try to grow things but their leaves turn brown and curl in.  i tell her to not give up.  i go on to tell her that i post my pics on a laptop and she said You tube?   no…a blog….OH!  what is it called?   Maybe i can find it.  I tell her.  The waiting was over and we continued on.   In the end,  i got updated,  she wanted me to check the laptop conncection but i couldn't….i was way late feeding the Goats….so we left it at that.    Is there anything else i can do for you grace?   Yes.  keep trying with a garden.  She laughed.    She was just

FINE.   Kind.  Patient.   creatively working within my limitations.  it was as if i were her own grandmother.  that she would take forever figuring out something that would  Help.

So,  Beauty Full young woman from Verizon,  if you do come here,  please know that because of you i write this here.  Because of you,  some things i have come to depend upon are back in place and how so much that Helps in this world.  Thank You beyond  Thank You.   i will think forever of a fine Garden for you.   No Te Rindas!

The beauty of a real connection, a relationship rather than just an exchange of information or frustration! And the lovely way we can respond to another’s kindness – making life wonder-filled & wonder-full. Thank you, Grace, for this story!

It is amazing how helpful people can be on those support calls. And how much time they can spend. And their conversational skills! Thank you for noticing and conveying, it is a hopeful start to my day.

Gosh Grace, this was so beautiful in every way. Starting with a building, a place…that is so much more than just a place…it is a space for connecting. I like to see where the packages I mail end up 🙂 The building itself, such magnificence!
And then onto this most wonderful interaction of two humans. I just thought this week that perhaps a couple of tricky interactions are that way, because the relationship part is short term, superficial perhaps…this verses building relationships with work families.
But, then I come here and see that it can be so much better. It can be beautiful. It just needs people who have that desire.
We can each make the world so much better.
Thank you for this gift today. xo

Lovely! It sounds like the Verizon tech made your day–and not simply because she helped get your internet connection back. More about the connection she made with you.
I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a lovely post office.

Wow! That is some post office. Nicest one I’ve ever seen.
The Verizon tech support person sounds wonderful. It’s so hard to ask for help when you don’t speak the technical language and so one ends up feeling especially dumb and often begins to feel defensive. It really helps if you get someone who interacts with you knowing how difficult it is to explain what you are experiencing without those technical terms to work with. It sounds as if she enjoys her job which these days seems to be rare.

I hope she comes here. One of the most difficult things about calling for tech help is not knowing the lingo! She sounds so patient and kind.
The three post offices here are so ugly. Little boxes lit with florescent shop lights.
May I ask what times do you feed the goats?

Beautyfull post, beautiful post office, beautiful verizon person, BeautyFull you grace!!
3 bars on 5G and I can barely send a message or pictures. I hope I can get as nice a person when I get to the T-mobile office! We are at some amazing mountains made entirely of millions of small rocks cemented together in a matrix of red clay as hard as stone itself. Someone previous made a rock alter inside a large full of ash firepit. A decent sized rock with the natural shape of a dogs head was leaning up against the pit.
I thought of Tay and when I get to my sisters in Tucson tomorrow I will use her wifi and send you the picture. Much Love!
