looking out the Morning Window….by the car,    Black.   the swing.    together.   Double click.   He stood there.   Just like that.  For i don't know how long….like….10 min?    until i couldn't watch any longer and i called out his name,  thinking maybe he was stuck?  His head popped out and he went along on up the hill  to get some minerals.

What, you’ve never heard of a meditating goat…or maybe, he was just catching 40 winds or simply, he found a clever way to keep his head cool. This is such a great photo; it brought a huge grin this morning. Now I have to go in search of this kind of shade because it will get to 104 again today. I’m surrounded by buildings, stucco, concrete and asphalt driveways that just radiate the heat…
Yesterday my romaine lettuce succumbed, and no amount of watering revived the plants so I harvested them for dinner. The Swiss chard also looked droopy and even the hardy herbs languished so I dug them all up and put the basil, rosemary, oregano and thyme in a huge pot. While I like the look of clay pots, soil dries out more in them so I use plastic green pots, they hold water much better and do not get all that hot. My wilting Swiss chard went into one of the pots as did the lavender. Hopefully they will recover and last through the summer; I’m hoping to be able to bring the herb pot indoors to winter over.
So now I have a nicely raked “naked” dirt strip formerly known as my wee garden. This strip only gets about 4 hours of sun, mostly shady but the soil was hot and even with compost, dry often. One thing that I probably could have done would have been to mulch with straw. Used straw from a feed store in our other home to help our garden but this is such a small space that the thought just slipped my mind.

Lol! So glad he was not stuck! No damage to him or the swing! I bought a basil plant at the grocery store today, couldn’t resist the smell! Now I need to repot it, pinch it back, and get it used to the sun. Crossing my fingers!

I think he found a spot where someone had perspired or spilled a drink and he was tasting away in there.
