watching every day, especially in one’s garden, is the (dare I say only proper) way to truly bear witness to the unfolding….this past year, after our house and subsequent garden make-over, has been the most rewarding year here so far: I have seen indigenous flowers, previously unthinkable in our wilderness, blossom and attract countless new kinds of insects to our patch, it feels miraculous
whenever you mention something like this Grace I feel such a strong connection to your land as well

such an amazing fruit … our dwarf pomegranate took a beating during the ice storm, losing half its main branches … and now the intense heat … I’m just happy it’s surviving and doubt it has any energy left to flower and fruit
hopefully Minnow will be able to deter any hungry critters when you are not there to watch

Grace, I think of you every day. I hope Emrie has everything she needs at school. All the big needs taken care of: wonderful person/teacher, kind classmates, great friends, and all the courage and curiosity to build a lovely girl person. I hope her curriculum is able to span diverse rainbows of the universe, and the little details of life on earth. Mom, Nana, and Old Nana will be the grandest who will give love and spiritual interest. I wish her class and school well this year. And crazy kid fun!

tomorrow is Emrie’s first day at First Grade. at the new
school, the Stem School, not the neighborhood school.
They went to orientation. She didn’t have much to say…
at orientation, or, to me when i asked. It’s different.
They are not rowdy locals. i suppose their kids are not???
We’ll see.
Julian starts Wednesday…he wanted to go to actual school.
Has been home school all through Covid and on. 8th grade.
Originally, always said he would go to public in person high school, but pushed it forward just weeks ago. Alyssia hustled and it’s a Go…Wednesday. He is a self identified socially challenged…can’t think of the word right now, but you know….he doesn’t do well OUT LOUD. in his head, he is a whole different person. He has 3 friends at this school which is across town for Alyssia, the friends are from grade school before he opted out…they have kept up, on line….
it’s him that my heart beats for….that somehow he can
find his way
