i'd thought it was just some kind of Internet drama….No More Sriracha…..but it turned out to be  TRUE….the jalapeno harvest,  WASN"T and they couldn't make any….!!!!!…..is this POSSIBLE?,  yes…and  not only possible,  but Happening….no more,

and the store shelves were bare and i 

LOVE   like  LOVE    this

i read and read all i could on other brands,   review after review and finally chose one  that everyone of the died in the wool  Huy Fong people said was good enough…not the same,  but good enough and  it arrived and  oh,  deep bummer….is  NOT  "almost" at all.   it's  "heavy" and  way too much garlic,    and i was   SAD….or,  more than SAD,     at a loss of some kind

and then….Alyssia went to the weekend Christening  celebration of her old  on ship Navy friend in Fresno's baby girl…she was God Mother,  they are Filipino  and the family is about COOOOOOKING    and  in addition to a multitude of leftovers,   Chelle sent this for me

life can go on.  if i am Care FULL*.  this can last until

maybe

a better harvest next season?????????

    I so “get” this … fingers crossed that they will have a good harvest next year
    What’s worse is when a company simply stops making a product you love … forever … Kashi Pilaf was discontinued years ago and I only recently figured out a workaround … more recently the discontinuation of Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers … no more refrigerator cake? how can that be? … and now I’m humming REM’s “it’s the end of the world as we know it”

    OR when a product is maybe not discontinued but not restocked! I used to love the Spanish Romesco sauce that Trader Joe’s carried when we lived in CA. One day, it was gone and I asked if they would bring it back.The reply, “not enough demand for it…” I used it on fish, chicken, port tenderloin, sometimes even slathering it on good crusty bread. The sad thing here is that I grew up eating this sauce, my Mom always made it but I never thought to ask her for the recipe. A few years ago in a Spanish cookbook, I found one that seemed to taste like my Mom’s, so problem solved…

    That’s terrible news about the jalapeno harvest 😦
    I understand your feelings. We put Frank’s hot sauce on just about everything and would hate to have it go away. Maybe I should buy some extra bottles…

    I love this whole “story” ~ and I love Sriracha (Thai)! Some while ago, I bought a large for birthday package (Alaska #1 son), and 2 large and 1 small for myself (large into pantry, gifts etc). I also have in my pantry, gochujang (Korean), Peri Peri and Sambal Oelek (Indonesian). Sambal Oelek is thicker and to me, less sweet than Sriracha, but fabulous for adding while cooking plant-based meals, and FISH. Eating HAPPY food and feeling good – absolute priorities! I try to be very frugal on a lot of things, but not groceries, if. I. can. Times they are a-changing, indeed.
    A well-stocked (thinking ahead…) pantry is a hold-over from growing up in very rural isolated communities, and stewardship of resources. Covid PLAGUE did a real number on food manufacturers, farmers, supply chains, and so on. There is real food insecurity in the county where I live, distressing. The surge in on-line shopping by younger buyers with different eating and taste habits, has without a doubt, changed what grocers put on their shelves, and charge. Added pressure on livable wages has added to costs of production, and store inventories. More than mildly annoying and distressing to this shopper.
    Speaking of food insecurities – RICE. Lots of “in the news” and commodity markets – if you eat a lot of rice, now might be a good time to think about an extra bag on hand. Have taken this into consideration in my own pantry shopping. Ciao y’all ~ stay well!

    I read this and marvel at how the exact moments come together in the universe… had there not been a baby,, and the christening.. and of people with same taste buds.. and sharing…. Wow!

    i echo your phrase, Peggy McG ~ “and sharing” ~ just marvelous and exponential sharing ~ resources, connections, sequential and “depending on” events, weaving those events into sturdier cloth of life (dare I say community?) ~ and Grace-oh-Grace’s moving and dear and wonderful SHARE
