today was pie day.   Apple.   It's interesting,   no electricity.   which ordinarily doesn't matter much at all  because you are used to it.   but then…when you are making a lattice top for a PIE ,   for the Saturday Dinner,    and you need to see…..

but it's all ok    and just……ok.  Pie gets done.

Intuitive baking, how your hands know how to weave the lattice, even in the dark, much like you weave cloth strips. I’ve said this many times but we eat with our eyes first and feasting my eyes upon this lusciously delicious looking pie, I feel nourished in so many ways…have I ever told you that I most love crust and lattice strips- filling is ok but oh the crunchy goodness of crust and strips!

it does. it’s my mother’s Fail Proof recipe.
the filling…just the ordinary..this, the old Better Homes and Gardens cook book, it’s the crust that does it.
Was hard not to eat it today…wait till tomorrow

I tried making my own pie crust this year .. disappointed myself again! My crust ended up in the trash! But after using a store bought crust my sweet potato pie tasted great. I’ll save trying making my own crust for another day.

Your pie is woven so beautifully, Grace. I must not have read carefully. Thought you had no electricity. But, a miracle happened? It looks gorgeous, and tasty.
May I please ask when your exact birthday is? I do have it wrong.

Man that pie looks delicious!! Hope you all enjoyed 🙂
I used to make the “Tupperware Pie Crust” that I learned at an actual Tupperware Party in the 1980’s!! How old does this make me feel?! haha Anyway, it Always came out so flakey and good. Put the ingredients in a particular Tupperware bowl, “burp” it and shake it. Ta-Da!
