i said i'd use the Inktense.    i see  it lasted  not even 3 weeks…

maybe this time?     So….the ritual of going through the last year's calendar…bringing forward Birthdays etc   in to the New…making note of things that might be good to remember this time Around?   just   FEELING   how it was,  how it is Now,  how the same,  how different.   A life    in this orderly parade of squares.     Minnow is snoring.    All the blank squares ahead.  Nothing has happened yet.

I draw colors in mine, too. Birthdays of loved ones are colored. Full moons are metallic silver. Doctor appointments are pencil. Trips will be trees, oceans, orcas, hotels—not dreams, dammit. We are down one car. I will rent one if I must.
This year will be different, or bust!

Laura~ I love this comment…all of life together, filled with colors – Dr. appointments in pencil made me smile. I just cross ’em out so I end up with what was planned and what was, which is kind of interesting.

Grace~ I have my little Hallmark pocket calendar ready to fill in, the handmade ones…I made January 2024 today – ready to see what is next…and the fun Sloth one ready for my red hearts of the gatherings – bold and easy to see. All of these blanks or some partial bits here and there just waiting. So much unknown.
The 3rd of January drilled into my brain, but how different it feels to see it here…to know that I matter enough to take up space in a box. (((hugs)))

i sense this year to be different. that maybe different things will need their own box. Not just the ones that
are ((( ))) but the triumphs too….a box for them.

The ritual of closing out the year by transferring things that matter to the new calendar. the obvious things like birthdays, anniversaries, Dr appts, written in my sharpie. But there are also longings, hoped for moments that require their own box and I usually pick one day a month and draw a star, a a flower, a heart, a sun, a moon or a tree, a tiny symbol to see what will come, what will be revealed; I’ve done this for many, many years…
January is always a special month for us, we got married in January and Rich’s birthday is also in January/
My one yearly ritual has not to do with my calendar but with light:I light 7 candles on Jan. 1st: I have an old, recycled, green round glass candle holder from Spain with 7 indented slots. All 7 candles are lit at once and I chant a benediction and blessing to begin the year. After, only one candle is lit at the beginning of each week and each day of that week, I am mindful of intention, focus and a daily spoken blessing…this helps center me throughout the year.
