all of them.   They didn't know what to do.   The bough was estimated at about 30  40   feet long,  maybe 1000 lbs.   Resting on a single point at the top of the windshield of the car.   and there were MANY branches.    all Live.      So,  they just began,  the branches first and as they cut them off the Goats gathered  and they continued and at some point ,   standing on the 10 ft ladder,  then on the roof of the car,   Jenny began cutting the bough in sections and rolling them off the roof and then,  the final cut when the heavy section FELL

the car was freed,   and no damage to the windshield,  hood,   even the rearview mirror,  no damage to the people

and so we go.   and after it was all done,  Jenny played hide and seek with Brinley and Emrie,  Minnow.

Glad no one was hurt and that the car is okay. That’s how I take things down that seem big in the garden, just start with the small stuff and work my way through it.

Astonishing that there was no damage.
Will you relocate all that beautiful moss?
Someplace here in the south I saw where people have made crutches of sorts to support those wide-spreading limbs. Taking one of those cut lengths and stand it up snug under a reaching branch. I know it’s not nature’s plan but could extending the life of a healthy limb extend the life of the tree and all the lives it supports? Beyond my time to know.

There’s a lot of planning, geometry, and physics involved with this kind of stuff. Glad your family managed safely and that your car is okay.
