it occurred to me  out of the blue that      Maybe    the picnic table down at A  might be large enough to lay it out on and get it pinned.   Off i went and it was long enough,  but not wide enough,    BUT   it's very clean there…..earth all  with gravel and ground cover which this year is almost all stork's bill.    First i pinned them a little apart from one another,  how i imagined i wanted them……but   not.   So this way and i was missing one and probably two   but it was good enough to finally Begin.

but

i don't really             like     it.    I don't know why.    i LOVE each spiral individually so it doesn't make sense.   But i don't.   So,  now what.   and remember,  i have enough spirals made for 2 more this size….for Jenny and Alyssia……    eee….

it's supposed to RAIN now for the next 10 days,   why i was hoping this would work.   Maybe i'll just make the adjustments that are needed   and     go.    Begin.

    What I am finding is that I look at the whole in a different way than the individual squares. For me, as a whole mine needs a balance of light and dark, it moves differently.

    Gasp… it looks great to me. Warming and colorful against the green and blue. When I was laying out my garden quilt, I looked at it and rearranged individual squares and blocks for hours. A subtlety for sure but in pursuit of “my vision.” Eventually I was satisfied. May you find the happiness of satisfaction!

    I am way behind in blog commenting but I have to say that looking at your wonderful, colorful spirals, took me to your post re our vaginas. Now that may seem strange but not if you think about this: How the many layers found in your spirals simply unfold in our bodies, both our physical body as well as our psyche…How our vaginas hold our center and our power, life giving, pleasure giving, etc.
    Growing up in a Spanish immigrants very Catholic household, matters of the body were never discussed by my mother. It was my Dad who got me my first Kotex and qho quietly and simply spoke about having respect for my body and myself. My mother only said, “be a good girl!” Years later came the 1850’s where freedom to be yourself and speak and act freely, thanks to the pill, allowed an openness that was essential to understanding what it is to be a woman.
    In 1973, i purchased the book, Our Bodies, Ourselves; it continued the revelation that I experienced in the 60’s of women speaking and sharing their sexuality and concerns. The book led me to unabashedly looking at myself in a large mirror, marveling at the many layers of my womanhood- hence my comment about your spirals and the folds, unfolding…
    My girls and I have shared what it means to be a woman, now our bodies change and adapt and now that my girls are in and almost done with menopause, we feel even closer as women. A story from college: one of my daughter’s best friends, gave a presentation to her psychology class. She titled her presentation, Me and My Vagina and showed herself to the entire class as a way to break down barriers both female and male. She got some serious push back from some of the males in the class but other males were humbled by her courage and her explanation of the beauty of the female form as well as the need to respect women.
    I realize grace that this perhaps was not the place to bring these thoughts but still, I was surprised that there were so little comments on your post re the Vagina Monologue…so while I am late in putting forth my thoughts, here they are:

    Yes are vagina’s matters , our holy caves, what greet inner body’s we have . So all of them animals, plants . Even the “body ” of an cloth make by pieces of old material forming a colourful(?) nap/cloth

    This is my second year watching them. I have learned so much. I have watched the Katmai Coastal Brown Bears for 3 years. My daughter saw them last year when they got married in Alaska. YT has so many positives…

    I had the book “Our Bodies, Ourselves”, also! Though, with a doctor dad, there were no body parts/issues that were not freely discussed. HAHA, he was the one who prescribed ‘the pill’ for me…
    When a quilt doesn’t quite come together for me, I make a few more blocks to see if they can better fit the design. Your quilt looks beautiful to me.
