the last of the four dams20240904_172917

i've wanted to say something…a couple days….about how

last week,   " The  last of the four dams that nearly destroyed the Klamath River salmon populations,  on the California Oregon border was demolished.  Marking a significant victory for tribes and environmentalists who fought decades to restore the river".

the River

is running

FREEEEEEE.

I'd wanted to draw a river.  and kept saying,  i don't know how…and so i didn't   but today looking through that drawing book,  i see this.   I see that in this pic i drew some few feet of       "my creek",   my childhood creek,   my  "mother"…..a creek in Michigan,  part of the Shiawassee River a sister River of all Rivers,   this Klamath River a Grand Sister of All Rivers

water is Life

to celebrate…i will     practice    drawing rivers

No matter how full the river, it still wants to grow.

I love the way your piece of the river moves in, pools a bit and then continues on. πŸ™‚

Deep bow of respect to the tribal peoples of the Klamath River. They made it happen and I actually lived to see the dams come down. Now to tackle the polluted water. I grew up spending summers on the Klamath, swam in it every day. Sadly it is no longer a safe river to swim in . The farms along the river and its watersheds provide gallons of pesticide contamination in run off. I love the Klamath River, I love the people who live along it, this is truly a victory and there is a bit more to go!❀️ Support Clean WaterπŸ’§
