who would ever have imagined????????? he wanted to make it. it took hours…the peeling of the apples, the perfection of the crust I just love this. He is surprising us at every turn and I think, surprising himself.

I swear I can smell the sweet apples, cinnamon, (if he used it) and that glorious, perfect golden woven crust. We eat with our eyes first and already, I am well fed from looking at Julian’s amazing pie.To my mind and heart, there is something so extra special and deeply moving when our grandchildren step up and make us food with love and pride and such a deep sense of family connection.

I love that he trusted his crust. The spacing allowing the apples to peek. Not fussing with the outer edge, leaving it robust. I’ll bet it was delicious.
