" …that does not preclude the fact that slowly but surely, good can be growing as other things fall apart.

The world we are fighting for is already here.  It exists in small spaces, places, and communities,  and much of our work is about scaling existing solutions .  You are aloud to be scared.  To grieve.   To be angry. But you are also aloud to create good,  to be soft,  and enjoy the small reprieves.   The struggle lasts as long as we do.

In solidarity,"                                                                                                                                                                                           AOC

Thank you so very much, Grace, for this quote. I have been sitting here at the computer this morning, feeling the pain of a democracy being ripped apart and replaced by an authoritarian government similar to that I experienced during my 5 years teaching in Libya — but on steroids! I need to remember those small, generative places/spaces/communities that are always here. To seek them out, to participate and contribute… to live faithfully in dark times — and still find the beauty, the joy.

Grateful for courageous women like AOC…I used to leave a sticky note on the wall outside her office in DC (when I would visit yearly to advocate for those with rare diseases) to thank her for all her efforts on everyone’s behalf. Grateful for this pocket of courageous women and for how I always find encouragement and hope here.
