they love the sound of the pellets being poured into their bowls.   Caroline and her sons have their own bowl.   This is evening feed.   Mornings,  just hay.  Timothy grass.   and then,  all day,  the browse of twigs and acorns.   It would be wonder Full to have some In milk…what might it taste like?   No matter the feed,  Nigerians have the richest milk of all Dairy Goats.   Maybe in days ahead we'll know again.   not these,   but the new ones….  that will replace those that have gone on.   Thinking a lot about them. … .the ones that have gone on since we've been here

and that took me back…to the year before Emrie was conceived….back in New Mex when I bought that huge extravaganza refrigerator so I could devote half of it to Goat milk,  to cheese making.

    I remember the cheese making pondering. Seeing them eating together, it all seems so simple. Maybe we should all come back as goats. xo

    When you came to visit us, in 2013, after we had moved into our rental house in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, you came bearing gifts. Cloth for me to dye with, a large old speckled enamel pot for me to use for dyeing cloth, especially dyeing with walnuts. You brought your favorite yellow hots (peppers) for us to enjoy and above all, you brought goat cheese, that you had made. We were going to the Harvest Festival in Corrales so I had made a simple quick meal for us before we left:scrambled eggs with sausage, green peppers, onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, all mixed with salsa. We had assorted berries on the side and sour dough toast made with Rich’s homemade bread, assorted jams but we never even opened a jam jar because your goat cheese on sourdough toast was such a wonderful treat. Never had we, or since had, such luscious, creamy tangy goat cheese. it was absolutely delicious…maybe you will make cheese again one day but if you do not, let my words of your incredibly delicious cheese, tell you that your cheese was superb and the memory of its taste, remains one of my gastronomic delights !
