you didn't know it,  but i Quit Blogging last night.   had tried to get a post to load all eve.  gave up at midnight and "took it as a sign".   Said,   ok.  i  quit.    meant it.

and then,  waking,   there was a comment from a name i didn't know.  that last post of  2/13 .    She said   "…..seeking kindreds…."   .    and i thought….it's not just about me here….it's    US.    All of Us who come here,  who   have   come here,    for years.

so….say  Hello to Lesley.   Maybe we need to hang in here….in case of kindred spirits?    Marti???

Hey Lesley, just said hello on the last post. I’ll check out your blog home soon.
Grace~ Yes, it is us. I made my blog ‘private’ again tonight…and then came here later and…oh I don’t know. How to feel un-lost?
I am so grateful you are here Grace and everyone. Much love. 💕

    Good morning Nancy and Lesley,
I have enjoyed reading your blogs for years. Your thoughts on life and politics are often inspiration and often a kind of consolation. I live in Germany and am 62 years old. You always give me courage and strength to cope well with the coming old age. Unfortunately, there are also extreme tendencies in Germany. Fortunately, I read your blog every day that not everyone approves of what is happening in your country. That’s how it is with us too. That always gives me a little courage. And yes, if you’ve been reading for so long, you’ll often be thought of. It’s actually the feeling of old friends. I wish you all the best and love. I will think of you even if you no longer want to blog. Stay healthy, kind regards from Neuholland, Germany, kind regards Katja

Welcome Leslie and hello Katja. grace’s blog has always been a place of strong, kind, caring, spirited women, who share their lives, their hearts and their minds.
Yesterday I spoke with one of my daughters and told her of my need to step back, take a break from commenting, catch my breath and she wisely said, “I know you Mom, you will take a break and be back tomorrow!” SO I was on my way back this morning, feeling a bit sheepish that my break lasted less than 24 hours but then I thought, it is perfectly ok to pause and re-charge for these times require that we listen to ourselves, do what we need to do to replenish ourselves in order to keep on going. Coming here this morning and finding this post, (I also went back to the previous post), I too realized that this was a sign so YES grace, we continue.
grace and I are old friends, met on-line in a writing group in 2005, met in person in 2006, when we traveled to meet her in New Mexico and in 2013, my husband and I moved to New Mexico and spent many a happy and loving times with grace until she moved to CA in 2017. Next month, we will have been friends for 20 years.
In all of that time, the constant was, and is, that windthread is a place where we can go down deep, into the marrow of life and discuss, ponder, question, laugh and get silly when we need to and always, always, speak to what matters to each of us and in so doing, windthread is a place of connection.

Well, I figured you wouldn’t agree if I suggested being here so I am glad you arrived at this point yourself. I mean, isn’t this part of your tiny world, where is the pretense in that?

    Dear Grace,
Unfortunately, I only now noticed that your name wasn’t sent. I translate it with a translator. Excuse me please. My words above are also intended for you and your blog. Marti, you are absolutely right. And no matter where we live, we all have the same everyday problems. We in Germany are also very worried about how things will continue for us and for you. We can only stick together here in everyday life. I wish us all a good life without violence, poverty and false pride. All the best, Katja

HELLO Everyone! Lesley, great to meet you!
Grace, last night I Felt you giving in to not blogging… So glad to find you here today!
My Nomad friends are dwindling out here in Quartzsite, getting older and less able to move around so they have become Townies.. I can go to town to visit, but miss the camaraderie under the stars.. and Yesterday I was invited on a hike by one person I know and was surprised to find 10 more Nomads I didn’t know joining in. We hiked Palm Canyon at KOFA Mountain.. then a potluck around a fire despite the wind and my new found group has been encouraging!

I have hovered at this amazing group of women…reading the bog posts and comments for many years. I comment occasionally but mostly read…at first catching up on everyone on the weekends and now daily using my phone. I think there might be many of us that turn to you Grace for all the reasons Marti gave and for a sense of community especially now when it seems like the world is changing fast and the powers that be want us isolated and uninformed. Thank you for continuing on….all of you. You may not think what you provide is much but for me it is a lifeline to what really matters.

Gosh…I came here this morning-Monday-to see if there was a reply to my comment yesterday (a comment I hesitated over making, for all of the reasons we often don’t comment?)…nothing…and a feeling of disappointment. Then I clicked to this main page and…
“Hello, Lesley” Oh my heart! And then the other hellos. And the thoughtful ponderings in the conversation.
I’ll tell you how I came here and perhaps that will help to keep up all our hearts about staying here in this webby world. I’ve had a presence online since 2003 when I opened up my webshop (with a little blog)…then came the golden years of blogging when it seemed that hundreds of women created their own lovely little worlds and we could wander and visit and create loosely-held communities that sometimes blossomed into face-to-face friendships. Then came instagram and I loved it for awhile, until it (and everything else seemingly) became shiny and burdened with ads and algorithms. And then we learned more about the men who own and manipulate them.
Since then, I’ve been in a sort of netherworld online…tried to both get back to blogging and visiting blogs. But my blog receives so much spam, I get discouraged and the blogs I always enjoyed are only sporadically updated.
On Nov. 6th, I found Threads and it was a comfort for awhile, but as these last few weeks have unfolded, I knew it was time to prepare to make my move away from all of the corporate, too-muchness of social media. So a few days ago, I started following trails, remembering an earthy blog a customer used to keep, visiting some of her links, finding Jude…then Grace…
And it seems that you all have been peacefully keeping up your posting and conversations all this while?
I was distracted for a long time online, trying to make a living and trying too many ways of being here. Tho’ everything I put out there was true and heartfelt, it was scattering. After discovering you all (so much more exploring and visiting to do!) I started rearranging my website to reflect my semi-retirement and the way I want to be there now. Silly old WordPress doesn’t seem to have a decent blogroll plugin any longer, but a friend is working on something and I hope to keep gathering kindreds there. It helps me to have a simple way to visit, because as easy as it is to sit by the fire and go a wandering…there are gardens to plan and socks to mend and bread to bake…
Deeply glad to have found you all. xoxo

Still frozen here and more snow on the way. The peeper song will be extra sweet when it comes after this winter. Love seeing that rich green in your pics. (Still thinking about overwhelm as the near enemy of compassion… It helps so much to look at it that way.) Love.
