on the way back up from Jack's gate i often stop to squat and rest. for days now, it's been here and remains it's self…a
bud
maybe the size of a grain of himalayan salt. but…a rose. the tiniest tiniest roselike bud.

could this beautiful wee rosebud be a Rosa rugosa? https://tinyurl.com/54mn4ttm Much of my own identification is based on the leaves, which I haven’t looked at very closely. After zooming in on your photo, there is a small green “ball”, which could be a “hip”, or? in photo looks almost like a tiny green tomato.
Certainly a delight to see, and love your seeing the small plant and bud. CatherinE says that much more eloquently than I do. Whatever, a morning delight to see this today.
