the young Mimosa is involved it ALL of it's necessity….Living, Blooming, Seed Poding…all at the same time.   All at the same time…i think of this…it's SO MUCH.

and…next…………………………..

and i am out ,  giving water and thinking…how there is so much.   A small boy,  dropped and abandoned in Northern Iraq  by a mother who could no longer carry him,   about a mother grieving her college bound son who has been shot dead in Missouri,  the Show Me state of America,  it's August.  August.  And i am here feeding these Goats……when maybe i could feed Many children.   August.  it's hot and humid tonight and EVERYTHING comes into question.

how to reconcile ALL of this? i don’t know, really. that i sit here this quiet rainy morning, in a sheltered house, sipping coffee, gazing at unfinished cloths…that i can do this so effortlessly…and yet ALL of this turmoil exists for millions of humans. not just turmoil–but pain and fear and horror. how can these diverse conditions coexist? i don’t know. i don’t know what i can do about it, either. and this not-knowing seems unacceptable. but what?

Grace, I think of you as one of the light keepers in this world. Through tending your space, taking care of the goats and maybe most of all blogging your thoughts – you make the world a better place. If there were more people living consciously (as you do) then there would not be so much strife. You should know when you are out giving water that you are in fact watering the whole earth, nurturing our collective souls. Your work is very important and stands as a balance against the craziness of the world. Thank you for that. The goats thank you too….

You do–you water us all, feed us all–and oh how we appreciate it–with that smiling face at the bottom of this wonderful cloth, you spread light over the whole worlds sorrows. You are like the grasses:
    Grasses
    So still at heart,
    They respond like water
    To the slightest breeze,
    Rippling as one body,
    And, as one mind,
    Bend continually
    To listen:
    The perfect confidants,
    They keep to themselves,
A web of trails and nests,
    Burrows and hidden entrances—
    Do not reveal
    Those camouflaged in stillness
    From the circling hawks,
    Or crouched and breathless
At the passing of the fox.
(a fine poem by Heather Allen, a Connecticut poet who pays close attention to what’s right under her feet. It may seem ordinary, but it isn’t.)
