finally.  I procrastinate.  I really dislike using it,  the noise,  the well,  just the kind of violence.  I use it at the perimeters.  This is at the Front Middle Oasis.  The inside of the oasis,  under the trees, bushes, still needs to be done by hand,  weed by weed.  There are too many being living there.  But the perimeters….so ok.   Before beginning any small area i need to look closely for things that belong to Tay.

collect them up so she doesn't try to dash in to save them.  Though some are rather plain looking sticks,  they are sticks that she …. knows.  and for her own reasons,  they are important to her.

and when i was looking,  there was this

DSCN3236gdouble click these pics…the Beauty of this assemblage is beyond compare.  I think how we all Make art of different kinds,  but things like this…..the random delicacy,  the magic of how it must have occured?, a spider web?,  what?   I wanted to look closer but it didn't seem right yet.  I'll wait till after some frost,  some winter wind,  but not yet

there’s something satisfying about the speed & precision of a brushcutter but a brushhook or machete does the job in a more peaceful rhythm, haven’t used power tools for gardening since I left the farm!

Stunning construction…the light shows it but frost will be wonderful. I’ve never used power tools but then I’ve always been working in small spaces…no wait, I did used to ask the church handyman to get out his power saw for tree limbs. Nice how you consider the life that might be out there in those weeds, and Tays special things.

even tho the natural assemblage is gorgeous, my favorite pic is the one with paws, crocs, and bucket. Finn has his things, too, of course. When we play ball, only the ball he began with will do — so if it arches over the fence, we can’t swap out a seemingly identical tennis ball for that session.

It looks like a spiders winter home. I leave them when i’m out picking dead leaves off the plants. Our spiders like to build them in geranium bushes.

an old woman with a machete is a dangerous thing.
really…i just need the help of the cutter now. it used to
be all by hand, i did use a brushhook. but using the cutter
for the perimiter, i take the time to squat and pull each
thing at the root for the rest. it’s a compromise.
