what do you DO?  with things like this that you just love so much?  They are thread bare.  There is no hope in mending.  They would need to be totally reconstructed.  Which would make them NOT how they have become.  so What do you Do?    I thought about burying them here,  maybe near SnowBunny.  And this is a good thought,  but then i love them.  so much.  so…i'll take them and maybe use them to dry off newborn Goats.  Wash off the blood and the afterbirth until they totally dis~integrate.   So…they go.

this is a wool vest.  My friend Janet,  of the stolen Janet Chairs, made it and i bought it from her.  It's from the wool from her mohair  Goats.  She spun it and crocheted it.  a small medium size.  the yarn is course.  It's BeautyFull and Fine but i won't live where i might wear it.  If anyone might want such a vest,  i would be so glad to send it.

I went through both Toy Boxes.  I have 4 old wool blankets.  What would i use them for?  I don't know but i also can't part with them.  I CAN finally,  like finally,  let go of the wool,  the heavy wool ankle length poncho,  my Clint Eastwood poncho.  It's with the Thrift Shop stuff.  It's taken many years to reach this point and here i am.  ok again.

So i am ending up with 2 garbage bags of clothes.   Altogether.  One and a half i probably will never wear but that i love.  A half bag of working clothes,  underwear,  socks.

i have 3 pairs of shoes.   My Birkenstock sandals,  a pair of boys work boots and these Crocks that i got at the Thrift Shop.   The crocks are pretty much done in.  They are my everyday shoes except in winter when i need to wear the boots for a month or so.  Otherwise,  i've worn the crocks with wool socks.  The Birkenstocks are town shoes.   I looked on Amazon at the Crocks and Jenny says there are tons of Thrift Shops in Chico,  so i will wait.  2 kinda 3 pairs of shoes.  ok again.

I do remember having cold and wet winter days there so perhaps the warmth would be good to keep

Like Cynthia I am sure you will want wool, it will be seasonal. Just to be sure, I checked. Average low in Jan is 35 F, 4-5 inches of rain. Worn is another word for love…

I would keep patching the Uniforms like Old Man Crow’s never ending denim jacket, I stitch a little more needle lace every month, one day it will be a lace jacket, he loves it!

postage TO you isn’t much….it’s FROM you that is so much…
but yes…i don’t see you in it….it’s too heavy for you.
I bought it from her because i wanted something she had made
from scratch, which meant from shearing her Goats….i love
the color of it, i love its course ness.
I never wore it. As far as wearing, i am a cotton person.
    it’s all i can bear.
if no one wants it, the Thrift Shop will find a place.
    Someone will be thrilled.

they are worn thin. the threads are just seperating all over.
a patch puts strain on neighboring threads and they pull and
break. Not all, but all the parts that get constant work.
when looking at them, i did think of the Old Man’s lace jacket.
the reality for me is my clothes are work clothes. Even tho
i will be in another place, i expect my days to remain the
same, i WANT my days to remain the same…so i need clothing
    that can Work.

lace can be surprisingly strong, perhaps lace developed out of darning, Old Man Crow wears his jacket almost every day in spring and summer it gets a lot of wear admittedly more for bending elbows drinking beer at the local pub but nonetheless it works and the denim is as you say threadbare in places the lace just keeps going strengthening the threads, perhaps it’s easier to spend this much time mending for love…

Now what I did to a threadbare linen robe was cut pieces to match all the large sections and invisible stitched (Jude) them together. It is very strong. I did a folded length along the seams after adding the whole pieces. Like bias tape but out of soft used material. So it’s now two layers of soft old fabric and it holds together just fine. All the “new” fabric is on the inside. Now if the inside is the part you love best–then stitch the new (old) fabric on the outside. And look for a dress like these to stitch together.

how good you are to suggest this…but that’s why i hesitate
with Amazon. am not sure, the size. There is my foot and then
there is the addition of the wool sock. These i have have worn off any indication of size.
also, though it might not seem so, i am very picky about what i put on my body, my feet. Have my own strange sense of aesthetics and color is one huge one. There is only one color of Crocs that will work. and they are NOT included in the sale.
But i THANK YOU for your heart, that you offer this….THANK YOU but i’ll find some when i get there. For now, these will do.

joanne…what i didn’t say about these two “jumpers” is that they are Hose Dresses. Even before they wore so so thin, they were both very light weight denim that came to me already used from the Thrift Shop. They were my summer “uniforms” in that i wore them daily as i worked here and in the heat, wore them ONLY…nothing under and would hose myself down off and on and the wet of them would slowly evaporate as i worked and be like air conditioning
    on the body.
so their Lightness was important to my relationship with them.
This year i have no hose dress.
I read your words and think, ok, maybe they can no longer be hose dresses. Maybe they can become something else entirely????
So…thank you so much for your words…they are right here on the back of the futon couch….
    Love,

    i know you do.
    They will go.
When you steal something, it becomes your responsibility for Ever, it’s well being…
i sometimes think of them on some deck to some hut. I sometimes think of them as out in the bush in a little clearing. I sometimes think of them “over there” in the Goat Forest. I sometimes think of them at Alyssia’s house.
maybe they will be all these places, but for sure, they will go.

layer the 2 dresses together, one on top of the other. and then stitch here and there to hold them together. a piece of that orange Hawaiian shirt would look lovely on them too.
