Everything will be different this time around. Soil added, spaces opened up. that new faux raised bed. Many things are possible. and….knowing that the Worms are there, having met 2 of Them….the Partnership.

I know raised beds, but what is a faux raised bed? Seems to me it’s either raised or not. An unframed raised bed?
Have you read The One-Straw Revolution by Masanobu Fukuoka? I read it a very long time ago, so I’m not 100% certain it’s the right source, but I remember reading about a no-dig, no-till kind of bed where you just keep adding compostable material–leaves, straw, pre-composted manure, shredded paper, etc. and plant in/through the top layer.
Also, I wanted to mention it before when you were talking about potatoes. Did you know you can grow them in a trash can? (https://cityrootsfarm.com/blogs/farm-blog/how-to-grow-potatoes-in-a-trash-can)

That sounds like Hügelkultur a German horticultural technique.
“Put simply, hugelkultur is a centuries-old, traditional way of building a garden bed from rotten logs and plant debris. These mound shapes are created by marking out an area for a raised bed, clearing the land, and then heaping up woody material (that’s ideally already partially rotted) topped with compost and soil.”
Also similar to Lasagna Gardening.

they are a shrub. Perennial. there are blossoms year round, a slowing at end of summer, but short. And then again…they blossom. The bees continue.

yes! One Straw….yes. No till.
this faux raised bed…in that manner, because i cannot Till. Earth here does not allow. But Earth is THERE. Receives roots as they come.
This space is not a lot…just logs high. I could have brought boards that would have allowed for higher, but i wanted it how it is…logs i can manage on my own. their aesthetic.
and potatoes…yes, too. But we are a user of potatoe family….can’t grow anywhere near enough, so i turn toward other things, stir fry things. It is all such incredible possibility….it’s JOYOUS and great and funnyLikeLike

thank you so much for the scientific name! I thought at first that it might be a shrub daisy, and so it is ~ at least one of the “common” names! a wonderful “pollinator” here – bees and butterflies love it! “unappealing to deer and goat – even better! I’d best get some!
